Petroleum Open Learning
Since 1988 Petroleum Open Learning has been providing the upstream oil and gas industry with flexible self learning courses which enhance technical knowledge and improve skills and performance in the work place. Over the years of industry technical experts have continually revised the learning modules to ensure they reflect the changing needs of the workplace. Petroleum Open Learning, a division of the OPITO – delivers open learning courses in Oil & Gas Well Technology, Petroleum Processing Technology and Oil & Gas Electrical Engineering Systems which are used by individuals and employers in over 30 countries In modular format candidates take responsibility for their own learning progress. The flexibility of setting the pace for self development, which accommodates work/life balance, has proven to maximise the course effectiveness. By choosing when and where candidates study the traditional barriers to learning, such as time away from work, travel, subsistence and accommodation are removed and the potential for completing learning is greatly improved. In addition to increasing knowledge, successful completion of the learning modules delivers (through examination) a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification which is recognised by employers. The examinations process is managed by Petroleum Open Learning staff. It is tailored to suit the candidate’s needs and availability, and those of employers, whilst maintaining the robust integrity of the assessment process.
