Provide mechanical engineering input to studies/projects covering the entire project life cycle from field development study, through design, to operational support and troubleshooting. This responsibility includes: · Individual calculation effort, preparation of data sheets, participation in front-end studies, mechanical engineering input to detailed design and start-up / operational support; Organisation and management of small scale modification projects, supported by more senior personnel; Ensure through direction and guidance of personnel that the engineering work is progressed efficiently, to maintain schedule without compromising on quality. The role is varied, requiring flexibility, both in the type of assigned work tasks, and location, as short assignments offshore or to overseas locations are anticipated. There is potential for long term assignments to other Pöyry locations in the oil and gas, or other business areas, in the future, dependant upon candidate’s career aspirations. Senior Mechanical Engineers will be expected to: Participate in business development through consolidation of existing client relationships; Participate in multi-discipline study teams in the execution of projects ranging from conceptual studies for greenfield developments to brownfield modifications of existing facilities; Provide input to operational support and troubleshooting activities; Prepare project deliverables as required, including input to Basis of Design documents, preparation of datasheets, Equipment Lists, Technical Bid Assessments; Have experience of equipment sizing and specification; Liaise with vendors to assist equipment selection and optimisation; Assist younger engineers in execution of project activities; Carry out optimization studies for selected projects; Provide detailed mechanical engineering input during all design phases as required by the client, including interpretation of industry standards; Review mechanical design work carried out by third parties (detailed design contractors, vendors), and to participate in HAZOPs as required; Contribute, as required, to bids, proposals, client presentations and marketing activity.

Required Skills/Experience:
|
You will have a background in the oil and gas industry, downstream refinery experience, or experience in a related industry, with some of this in a multi-discipline design environment. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Some experience in interfacing with other disciplines involved in the development process; Experience in feasibility, concept selection, front end engineering studies and detailed engineering; Experience of participation in small to medium scale process and multi-discipline projects; Experience in interfacing with operations personnel and engineering disciplines in both design house and operating company environments; Some relevant experience of project engineering / management through participation in a multi-discipline project activity.

Desired Skills/Experience:

Specific design and operational experience and familiarity with unit operations and systems design; Familiarity with local activity in the oil and gas production and awareness of the potential development areas; Experience in identification and screening of development concepts and FEED; Understanding of HSE/DTi regulations regarding hydrocarbon emissions to the environment. Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (American Petroleum Institute, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, Institute of Petroleum, British Standards etc.) Basic knowledge of Safety Case principles and development; Understanding of the principles of Permit to Work systems; Knowledge of employee obligations under the OH&S Act; Working knowledge of project management tools; GANTT, PERT, CTR tracking etc; Skills in interfacing with established client relationships.
