Duties and responsibilities
A. Performs preventive maintenance, installs, commissions, tests, repairs, analyzes results and troubleshoots the following types of
equipment: 480 V through 230 KV switchgear, oil/air/gas/vacuum circuit breakers, substation power transformers, pad-mounted transformers,
pole-mounted transformers, loadbreak switches, high and low voltage disconnect switches, oil switches, circuit switchers, transformer tap
changers (auto and manual), reclosers, cooling fans, substation lighting, substation civil maintenance, emergency lighting, bus ducts and
insulators, electric and hydraulic maintenance on PDD heavy equipment (when not performed by ITD) using various types of test and
measuring equipment
B. Field repairs electrical and mechanical components of oil circuit breakers, which include air compressors, hydraulic pumps, mechanical
springs, and air systems. Also adjusts mechanism on breaker linkage as required.
C. Performs commissioning tests on new equipment, recommends final acceptance by Power Distribution Department and lists exception
items, if any.
D. Performs high-skilled diagnostic tasks, as required.
E. Locates equipment or systems faults and operating irregularities by making the necessary diagnostical tests, measurements, and
analysis. Determines nature of repairs or modifications to be made, and replacement parts required.
F. Performs installation, repair, and maintenance on portions of specialized power distribution equipment not normally maintained by ITD,
such as; line wash equipment, personnel lifts, double bucket lifts, digger-derricks, hydraulic combination lifts/line trucks, motorized cable
reels, transformer oil filters and processing equipment witth generators and other equipment which has combinations of hydraulic,
electrical,and mechanical components.
G. Revises existing equipment and systems to conform to verbal instructions, revised drawings, and work orders; then makes operational
test runs for satisfactory repair and acceptance.
H. Coordinates and schedules power outages with affected organizations as required to perform routine maintenance or make repairs on
power distribution facilities.
I. Acquires clearances, performs switching, receives work permits under the direction of the Power Dispatcher or Senior Electric System
Operator, and restores equipment to service; when such activities are required to perform work in a timely manner.
J. Normally provides work direction for four or more lower classified personnel on assignments of varying complexity, working at one or more
locations.
K. Trains subordinate technicians in advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, test, repair, and maintenance procedures/methods.
L. Maintains discrepancy and repair records and a technical library of systems diagrams plus manufacturers'/vendors' manuals of equipment
in assigned area. Locates specification sheets, manufacturers' technical data, reads all kinds of blueprints and electrical diagrams as
necessary to satisfactorily complete work assignments. Maintains a continuing up-to-date audit of all equipment worked on, including
nameplate data, conditions, settings, past malfunctions, and corrections required Documents conditions found, adjustments made, calibration
settings, final condition of equipment, etc. Makes revisions to drawings to keep them current and reflect the actual situation in the field.
Forwards the information for incorporation into company records.
M. Practices good housekeeping, including jobsite cleanup, conforms to safety standards, rules, and practices and requires it in others.
N. Performs other miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements
1 A. COMPLETION OF ITC: ENGLISH, ERW MATH, M I B- EXPERIENCE REQUIRED ll YEARS
- Receive Hot & Cold work permits. -Perform CPR (CardioPulmonary Resuscitation).
B. 11 years of experience in power system construction, commissioning, maint., and operation with emphasis on transmission & distribution
of medium to high voltage.
C. Fluent command of the English language plus ability to operate and interpret results of any kind of testing equipment such as Wheatstone
bridge, oscilloscopes, meters, meggers, high pot testers. Incumbent must have applicable knowledge of U.S & Saudi Electrical Codes.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Selection Criteria
Ability to operate and interpret results of Power factor tests, Circuit Breaker Timing Tester, Transformer Resistance Tester and Transformer
Turn Ratio Tester (T.T.R.). Moreover, the ability to perform Commissioning, Preventive Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repair for any
high voltage electrical equipment including Switchgears, Power Transformer, Air, Vacuum or Gas circuit breakers and Gas Switches. Good
knowledge and experience of computer application programs.
