The Assistant to the Managing Director will support the Managing Director’s efforts to: Develop a network of scholars, experts and NGOs throughout Qatar, the Gulf Region and the Middle East to research and develop policy proposals to implement the norms and calls for action set out in The Doha Declaration; Develop a network of government leaders and diplomats from Qatar, the Gulf Region and the Middle East and educating that network regarding the importance of acknowledging and implementing the norms and calls for action set out in The Doha Declaration; Integrate and promote cooperation between local and regional networks of scholars, experts, NGOs, government leaders and diplomats and emerging international networks of like-minded individuals and organizations in implementing the norms and calls for action set out in The Doha Declaration; Conduct and complete legal, economic and sociological research related to the annual Plan of Action of FSD; Write papers, speeches, and other presentations for delivery at international conferences and events convened by FSD; Compose and create regular newsletters and other reports for publication on FSD’s web site and elsewhere; Monitor and track important developments in international law and policy that affect the stability, health and effectiveness of family life; Coordinate the work of the three Operating Divisions of FSD (Research, Policy and Implementation and Social Outreach); Ensure effective cooperation between FSD’s Operating Divisions and other FSD Partners at Education City, Qatar Foundation and elsewhere; Promote the overall strategic goals and objectives of Qatar Foundation; and Carry out and implement any request from Qatar Foundation’s Board of Directors.Educational Requirements: • As set out above, the duties of the Assistant to the Managing Director must have excellent writing, research and analytical skills; • In addition, the Assistant must have the educational background to accomplish the tasks set out above without extensive “on the job” training; • Accordingly, the successful candidate must have an advanced degree in either social science, policy analysis or law; • Exceptional and long-term experience (more than five years) in performing duties equivalent to those described above is also required.
