International oil and gas operator currently require a Lead Counsel to be based in Aberdeen due to recent acquisition activity. Working as the sole lawyer in the Aberdeen office, you must possess significant oil and gas experience and in particular, contracts and procurement knowledge. This role will offer an attractive salary and benefits package for the successful candidate.

This role will, initially, be the sole legal resource in Aberdeen which has arisen as a result of recent acquisition activity. An outline of the key responsibilities is as follows:

• The focus of the role will be in delivering the legal support required for a range of upstream activities with a strong emphasis on supporting the contracts and procurement team and activities.
• As the sole lawyer based in Aberdeen initially, you will be expected to advise at short notice on production critical commercial agreements, such as Transportation and Processing Agreements and other day to day general legal requirements within the office.
• Providing legal advice to clients on specific projects and assets.
• You will work on a wide range of upstream matters as well as more general legal issues.
• Responsible for managing external legal advisors when required as well as liaising with other lawyers across the group.

Person Specification:

• You must be a qualified lawyer with significant experience of oil and gas arrangements.
• The role will initially have a contracts and procurement focus so a candidate should have experience of the tendering for, and negotiating of, contracts to support the operated upstream exploration and appraisal and field development and operating activities.
• Experience should include contracts for well services, drilling rigs, vessels, helicopters and other general materials and services.
• There will also be exposure to inter-operator agreements such as operating services agreements.
• Familiarity with industry standard pro-forma agreements such as LOGIC would be an advantage.
