Position Overview:
Supervision, technical guidance and review, and performance management for the Mechanical Engineering (Stationary and Rotating Equipment) and Electrical Engineering personnel in the Long Lake Technical Services department. Manage relationships with consulting engineering firms for these disciplines. Ensure coordination of engineering activities for the efficient and safe operation of the Long Lake integrated facility, management of change, troubleshooting, maintenance support and appropriate allocation of resources for projects.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the Long Lake Technical Services department leadership team, collaborating with peers to effectively manage department functions and serve as a positive role model for the organization.
- Ensure engineering personnel are focused on the objective of safe, reliable production, supporting the operations and maintenance organizations at Long Lake.
- Provide day to day guidance and support for the mechanical and electrical engineers in the Long Lake Upgrader and SAGD facilities.
- Supervise and manage performance for the mechanical and electrical engineering personnel in the Technical Services department.
- Develop and maintain standards, work processes and procedures for Engineering Work Requests that arise throughout the plant, as well as for the performance and review of engineering work at the site. Ensure strong alignment with complimentary work processes such as management of change, capital projects, equipment integrity, maintenance and turnarounds, and process safety information management.
- Maintain site ownership of mechanical and electrical specifications and standards and liaise with corporate groups to provide input and review for updates as required.
- Provide leadership for the management of the Technical Deviation Request process at the site, ensuring consistency and rigour in considering risks associated with such deviations; and capture lessons learned for consideration in specification updates.
- Provide leadership for mechanical and electrical engineering input into reliability improvement programs and initiatives, ensuring strong alignment with area production team goals and objectives.
- Support the capture of lessons learned and coordinate input to the major projects group for the development of future phases of expansion of the synthetic oil division.
- Manage and foster effective working relationships with engineering and specialty consulting companies in key areas required for ongoing operations support, and manage the associated budgets for the engagement of these services.

Status: Staff
Required Skills/Experience: Education:
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree
- Eligible for professional registration with APEGGA

Experience:
- 15 years plus in an operating industrial process plant environment
- Minimum 5 years supervising engineering and/or technical staff
- Experience in an oil sands upgrader, refinery or petrochemical plant desired
- Experience in a SAGD operation considered an asset
