The candidate is to:1. Be responsible for providing professional education and training in the nautical science and/or Marine Engineering. 2. Serve as an expert Instructor in one or more of the following disciplines - Navigation (Terrestrial, Celestial, Electronic), Safety Training, Seamanship, Bridge Resource Management (BRM), Ship handling, RADAR, ARPA, Proficiency in Survival Craft, Meteorology, Stability and Trim, Small Vessel Operations, Cargo Handling and Stowage, etc. and/or - Steam and Diesel Propulsion Systems, Auxiliary and Electrical Systems, Machine Shop, Hydraulics, Refrigeration, Maritime Safety Courses, etc. 3. Maintain the highest level of technical expertise in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Standards of Training, Certification, and watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and international standards, laws, and regulations relating to the training and certification of seafarers. Duties and responsibilities A. Instructs trainees to terminal objectives of POI's in complex plant systems, operations and controls. B. Obtains training material, supplies, A/V equipment, tools and training aids needed to conduct lessons. C. Prepares personalized lesson plans from approved course control documents (POI's). D. Adopts and/or constructs training aids. E. Administers, proctors and grades written and performance tests. F. Observes, counsels and evaluates trainees and trainers. G. Prepares trainee records, such as attendance, grade and progress sheets. H. Maintains discipline, safety, and housekeeping standards at his classroom, shop, or work site. I. Develops performance based instruction and tests as a curricula development team member. J. Recommends administrative actions for trainees. K. Coordinates on site training activities with plant personnel and selects and arranges for field trips for trainees. L. Advises on utilization of material, facilities and equipment to support training. M. Recommends improved training methods and procedures. N. Revises training programs based upon validated feedback. O. Provides input to management as requested: budget planning, facility utilization, training plans, in-service development training paths, enrollment matters, curriculum changes. P. Performs as subject matter expert for curriculum writers and classroom/shop observations. Q. Advises other trainers/instructors as required and serves as a mentor for Saudi Arab Industrial Skills Trainers/Instructors I & II. R. Performs other training and training related duties assigned by Supervisor.
