Our Client, a Major International Offshore, Subsea Oil & Gas Contractor, has a requirement for a Rigid Pipeline Design Lead Engineer at their UK Head Offices in Aberdeen.

A Lead Pipeline Engineer, ideally with a design background. To provide expert high quality technical support to Project Management Team at tendering & project phases & establish themselves as the technical focal point for the discipline.
In addition to direct project support role, will be required to actively contribute to the consolidation of Company’s technical expertise, supervising & assisting in managing the workload & development of Pipeline Engineers. Perform necessary design analysis & calculations as required & assist in budget & study activities
To supervise the quality of the engineering activities within the following areas:-
All design activities pertinent to discipline
Installation analysis & methods
Ensure relevant design rules & procedures are complied with
Assist in managing the engineering resources within discipline as agreed with the Central Engineering Pipeline Manager. Manage & develop engineers within discipline
Review third party / internal design & installation calculations & monitor performance / technical competence of third party Design Houses
Develop, maintain & consolidate appropriate engineering software & develop & run internal training courses as required.

QUALIFICATIONS –
Candidates must have an Engineering Degree B.Sc. (Hons) or M.Sc or equivalent - in Mechanical, Civil or General Engineering
Preferably with additional post-grad qualification, chartered status with relevant professional institution
Must have a minimum of 8 years relevant design or engineering experience, at least 6 directly related to the discipline.
Role requires both sound technical & leadership skills. Ability to identify problems & deliver solutions through effective communication & technical skills.

Ideal candidate will have previous experience from a Subsea Design House .
Experience of reeled rigid pipeline design & installation.
Some experience outside the North Sea environment & of other industries will be a bonus in helping to achieve & fulfil this demanding role.
