Company Profile

A significant client of Petroleum People has asked us to source an experienced geoscientist for a major project in South America. As a medium sized global operator they are currently investing heavily at present in South America as this is at the forefront of their budgetary plans for 2010. The office in South America has been long established but they are looking to exploit the major concentrations of shale gas in the area so have identified the need for an extremely qualified geoscientist to play an integral role in the business.

You will be charged with leading their large shale gas project from early exploration strategies to development and hopefully production, whilst training and managing a small team of locals. As this is a senior advisory role you will have a major technical input into new ventures, prospect generation, process and play fairway analysis, whilst also advising on where appraisal and development wells should be drilled. You will need to have excellent seismic interpretation & mapping skills at regional prospect level, ideally using Petrel interpretation software. Proven experience in analyzing and assessing the risk of new acreage in data rooms whilst working with joint venture partners and government institutions is a necessity.
As this role is for a significant professional you will have a minimum of 15 years global operator experience, preferably with at least 5 years working knowledge in shale gas plays. Proven experience in managing a multi-disciplinary technical team as well as having a major influence on the technical work will be required to succeed in this role. If you have a proven background in generating shale gas plays and whilst enjoy taking a leading role then you will be well placed to succeed in this role.
Attraction and retention of professional expertise is of paramount importance to my client’s continued success, and as such they regularly review remuneration packages on offer to ensure that market leading salaries will be offered
