An experienced Mechanical Project Engineer is required to work on a variety of exciting projects for an award winning Oil & Gas equipment and services supply company. The role is permanentely based in Aberdeen. The Mechanical Project Engineer shall have technical responsibilities in the execution of projects. On smaller projects he/she shall have responsibility to deliver the project scope, on larger projects shall contribute to a multi-discipline project team. These projects vary from engineering, procurement, manufacture and test projects, in support of Subsea and topsides onshore/offshore production optimisation based construction activities. The Project Mechanical Engineer shall perform conceptual and detail engineering studies based on instructions received from the Lead Engineer and also based on the requirements specified by the project team, tendering team or directly from the client. He/She shall be able to take conceptual design and fully engineer to manufacture level drawings and specifications. He/she shall be able to document their design/analysis in the form of written reports and be able to present their findings concisely in meetings. He/she shall be able to efficiently communicate their design concept to Draughting and other personnel so as to optimise the design and manufacture process. He/she shall be/become familiar with Vessel and ROV operations / limitations, in order to improve design, operational schedule, procedures and safety. Key Skills Required - Have an understanding of safety regulations and responsibilities together with methods to control and reduce safety related risks. - Have a working understanding on typical design codes used in the manufacture of Subsea oil and gas related equipment. - Understand and apply the principles of pressure vessel design. - Understand and apply the principles of pipework design. - Understand and apply the principles of heat transfer. - Understand and apply the principles of FEA. - Understand the properties of mechanical engineering materials including limitations, alternatives, reasons for selection, the effects of their interaction and the appropriate tests that can be carried out to ensure specification compliance. - Be able to use standard computer software packages (Word, Excel, e mail, Document Control Systems, ACAD 2d & 3d software. - Capable of producing high quality written reports. - Previous (but recent) Engineering experience gained within a Subsea Xmas tree/choke/production optimisation equipment supplier is desirable. - A working knowledge of hydraulic and electric controls systems is desirable.
