Our Client is looking for an Environmental Advisor/Engineer. This is a permanent position, based in Surrey, UK.Our Client designs oil and gas production facilities, including subsea systems, offshore platforms, FPSOs, onshore oil and gas field development and export pipelines. Projects range from feasibility studies to front-end engineering design, which may begin with an environmental hazard identification workshop through to the development of mitigation plans, full EIAs and public consultation and disclosure planning. Our Client applies the principles of BAT to its designs and also provides consultancy services directly to clients. The work is varied, and may involve establishing emission budgets and carrying out air dispersion modelling studies. As a global business, projects may be located onshore or offshore, from arctic to desert regions providing a broad range of opportunities and experience. Desktop initial environmental assessments are often required and the occasional management of baseline surveys. As Environmental Advisor/Engineer, you will be working on high-profile oil and gas projects around the world to provide class-leading environmental protection, including the challenge of working in highly-sensitive, protected environments. Responsibilities include: Environmental support across a wide range of studies, projects and consultancy activities. Activities range from determination of compliance, baseline environmental description and sensitive receptors, identification and control of pollution sources and pathways. Promotion of energy and process integration to minimise environmental impact, including review and assessment of best available techniques, control and mitigation. Environmental input to development planning activities interfacing with other disciplines, e.g. process, sub-surface, infrastructure, commercial. Study management of individual jobs with responsibility for resource and budget expenditure. Requirements: Minimum 2:1 first degree or equivalent and a background in Environmental Science. Relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent (not essential). Ability to demonstrate experience and achievement in a range of industry specific, engineering projects. Broad range of environmental knowledge, onshore and ideally offshore. Evidence of numerate approach including development of environmental (emission etc) budgets, hands-on modelling capability, MS Word, Excel and ideally Access experience. Technical understanding of environmental engineering aspects/issues in some/most of the following areas: Emissions to atmosphere, combustion sources, process and fugitive Aqueous discharges and controls Waste minimisation and management Spill prevention, contingency planning and clean-up The broad range of environmental activities that may be part of a project means a range of specialists may be involved. The candidate will need to understand the requirements but not necessarily have the knowledge or skills to execute all tasks. Numerate. Highly motivated. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with particular emphasis on the ability to produce well constructed, comprehensive and yet concise input to reports and other documents.
