Senior Project Development Engineer (Petrochemical Ventures)

• At departmental level, participates and leads the development and implementation of mega downstream projects at various stages, from initiation to commissioning and start-up.
• Emphasis is made on conducting the projects execution subject to budget, schedule and quality, in respect of best project management practices.
• The position embraces the whole projects lifecycle; it specializes in technical areas, although it coordinates with all other functional areas.
• As such, it supports the department’s leadership and accountability in developing these projects.

• Awareness of the oil & gas supply chain and related key parameters.
• Strong project management skills.
• Leadership and team building skills.
• Familiar with international management standards.
• Broad exposure to hydrocarbon processing economics and their application to muti-project opportunities.
• Ability to integrate different data and analysis from various sources and technical disciplines into a coherent working synopsis.
• Capacity to interpret complex legal agreements embedding technical aspects of projects execution.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Comfortable in working at a senior level with international investors and consultants.
• Ability to work under high pressure while demonstrating negotiation, mediation and arbitration skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the others, and to resolve conflicts.
• Ability to win the confidence of others for buy-in and approval.
• Ability to develop awareness of the environmental and safety regulations in Qatar.
• Ability to develop a strong awareness of company and Qatar’s business rules and procedures that apply to foreign partners who seek interest in developing downstream projects in Qatar.
• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Good command of English language, advanced level is minimum. Arabic is a plus.
• Computer literal (MS Project, Primavera, Acrobat, Microsoft Office)


Status: Staff
Required Skills/Experience: • 12 years minimum of varied industry experience in Gas Processing, Petrochemical or Refining as project engineer in process design, project economics and in development of venture companies.
• Highly motivated, dynamic profile capable to exercise influence with outstanding communication skills.
• Multidisciplinary background and solid references in project management are essential to this position.
• Extensive exposure to multicultural working environments. Capacity to integrate the corporate differences between company working policies and foreign partner’s procedures.
• Significant knowledge in refining and petrochemical technologies to adapt to the pace of hydrocarbon processing industry.
• Knowledgeable in project economics, legal matters and project finance.
• Strong awareness of the oil & gas supply chain and related key parameters.
Required Qualifications: • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Petroleum/Process/Chemical Engineering with strong awareness of Economics and Business Development is required. An advanced degree is advantageous (e.g., Masters in Business, Economics, etc.).
• Professional membership of internationally recognized project management and/or business associations.
