OVERVIEWReporting to the Corporate Planning Manager, the role of the Deputy Planning Manager is to manage the planning function at a corporate level and all aspects of planning and scheduling on allocated projects. Responsibilities include the management and effective use of planning resources, ensuring compliance with work practices and procedures; and review of planning and scheduling processes and procedures on specific projects. RESPONSIBILITIES As the Deputy Planning Manager, you will assist in providing leadership and technical direction over a team of planning specialists. You will be responsible for the implementation of planning and scheduling procedures and also for all planning reporting on specific projects. In addition, you will be required to set up and implement trending and progress measurement processes on projects, using the Corporate Project Controls system, for which training will be given. The role will also include responsibility for assisting the schedule risk analysis on a project. Specific responsibilities include: oParticipate in the development of the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) oImplement standard planning procedures and project specific planning and scheduling processes, using the KBR planning systems such as Primavera P6 and associated project controls modules (for which training will be given) oDirect the planning team in the development of planning network schedules for specific projects and the production of Baseline analyses, ‘S’ Curves and resource histograms. oDirect the planning team in the definition and assignment of roles and resources to activities of work and organise the timely production of critical path analyses and related resource levelling operations, as directed by the Corporate Planning Manager oLiaise closely with engineering, procurement, construction and other disciplines to provide schedule and progress information to project management oAssist with the execution of schedule risk analysis on specific projects, using KBR standard risk systems and reporting the key project risks to Project Management oAttend Project Controls departmental meetings as required oLiaise with HR to process current recruitment offers and requisitions oAct as a point for all planning related queries raised by Planning Control personnel oDevelopment, Management and Training of the E&C Planning Team as appropriate. oInterface with worldwide locations on their processes, documentation standardisation, and structure. Candidate Profile The skills required for this role will typically have been acquired through the completion of a relevant undergraduate degree and/or equivalent experience of working within the Cost function of Project Controls. Membership of a professional body such as APM would be desirable. Key Competencies include: o10+ years of planning experience in construction or oil & gas, preferably with 5 years experience in offshore oil and gas. oPrevious experience of successfully managing a team of planning staff oExcellent communication and presentation skills, oAbility to work concurrently on several activities, with good organizational skills. oCommitment to a career in project controls and the pursuit of excellence oWorking knowledge & experience of planning systems such as Primavera P6, PIMS or similar, in the planning and implementation of projects
