OVERVIEWReporting to the Director of Project Controls, the role of the Estimating Manager is to direct and motivate the Estimating team through creative and dynamic leadership. Responsibilities include the management and effective use of Estimating resources ensuring compliance with work practices and procedures; review of all Estimates prior to approval by Senior Management (including the co-ordination of the Approval process) and the development of Corporate norms and benchmarks. RESPONSIBILITIES oManagement and resourcing of Estimating (and Quantity Surveying) personnel in support of Project and Corporate workload – sourced from the existing staff pool and external personnel where appropriate. Ensure efficient and effective use of the Estimating resources. oIdentification, development & continual updating of ‘Corporate’ cost norms, metrics and factors for use by Project Estimating covering all aspects of onshore & offshore estimates. Interrogation of historical project data to support future Estimates. oPreparation of Home Office Estimates in support of Proposals and the development of Estimates in support of Project work as appropriate, ensuring all deadline are met and agreed standards are maintained. oReview of all Estimates prior to final review and approval by Senior Management. Co-ordination & management of the overall Review/Approval process. oPresentation of Estimates as required to all levels of Management. oContinual review of Estimating processes & procedures to ensure they are effective, efficient and complied with. Training of existing and new staff on processes & procedures as appropriate. oProvision of support of the Estimate Risk process (managed by dedicated group) oPreparation of Estimating write-ups in support of Proposals oManagement reporting (as required) oPreparation of Home Office Cost Estimates in support of Proposals for new business. oInterface with global locations to support Estimates as appropriate. oDevelopment, Management and Training of the Estimating Team as appropriate. oInterface with worldwide locations on their processes, documentation standardisation, and structure. CANDIDATE PROFILE The preferred characteristics include: o15+ years of Estimating experience preferably in construction or oil & gas, with experience in bidding/estimating international projects through the different phases. oIdeally 5+ of these years in offshore oil and gas oPrevious Management / Supervisory experience oDynamic leadership style, prepared to ‘push the boundaries’ when necessary; nurturing/mentoring style; keen to share knowledge and experience oAbility to encourage open, frank communication at all times oStrength of character with the ability to build credibility quickly oExcellent communication skills (all forms); able to translate complex situations into easily understood context oAbility to concurrently work on several activities, with good organizational skills. oHave a confident disposition and natural leadership qualities oCommitment to a career in estimating and the pursuit of excellence oWorking knowledge & experience of Estimating software packages oExperience with Microsoft Office Suite, with excellent Excel skills oDegree qualified in a relevant engineering or business discipline (not essential) oGood presentation skills
