Primary objective

As Lead Structural Engineer he or she will be responsible to lead and guide the structural engineering team assigned for the project, plan and execute the engineering works, co-ordinate with project group, and ensure that the works are completed in accordance with the project specifications maintaining the agreed project schedule. He or she will also assist the department head in organising department works, develop and maintain software, standardise procedure, training of personnel and ensuring quality adherence.

General Working:
• Prepare detail designs in conjunction with engineers.
• Liaison with other disciplines on technical issues.
• Produce work packs & drawings.
• Ensure that the level of design work is appropriate for the complexity of the construction tasks.
• Evidence of interaction.
• Knowledge and compliance with Worley drafting procedures and drawing systems and applications.
• Conduct site investigations.
• Approaches Supervisor to discuss training and development needs.
• Training and development action items close out.
Safety:
• Attend Safety Audits
• Ensure that design focuses on safety in construction, maintenance and operation.
• Ensure that work place is safe.
• Be pro-active in safety.
• Responsible for personal safety, safe working practices for the BU, etc. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.

Quality Assurance
• Attend Audits (internal).
• Ensure work done conforms to the applicable specifications, codes and standards and meets all acceptance criteria with respect to safety, quality, technical competency, cost and schedule.
• Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the BU, etc

Cost Control:
• Monitor progress, budget and schedule.
• Maintain overall man-hour key performance indicators for assigned work.

Status: Staff
Required Skills/Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from a recognised University or Institution. Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering preferable.
• Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience in structural analysis and design of offshore oil & gas platforms and related facilities. Should have proven track record of successfully executing structural design works for significant oil & gas platform projects for reputable clients, should be able to work without supervision, and be able to provide guidance and direction to other engineers.
Required Qualifications: • Must be fully conversant with all relevant codes and standards including API, AISC, BS, DnV and others.
• Must be well proficient in using SACS, and should have hands on capability in developing structural analysis model and performing all relevant structural analyses for offshore platform substructures and topsides.
• Must have hands on experience in detail design of all structural items, components, appurtenances, installation aids and similar. Also, should be fully conversant in checking detail structural drawings, foresee fabrication/installation problems, and guide designers to develop better workable details.
• Must be fully conversant with all relevant fabrication and installation aspects of offshore platforms.
