Our Client has a vacancy for a Maintenance Engineer (Instrument) based in Aberdeen. This is a contract position. Responsibilities: Analysis and rectification of instrumentation and control system problems and issues. Ensuring that the performance of instrumentation and control systems meets safety and availability targets. Ensuring that the maintenance of instrumentation and control systems is conducted in a safe and effective manner. Managing audits of instrumentation/control system performance and status. Provision of instrument engineering input to modifications. Management of support contracts for the maintenance and supply of instrument and control system equipment and vendor personnel. Ensuring compliance with safety case requirements for instrumentation and control systems performance. Ensuring that the ESD and Fire and Gas systems meet statutory and operational requirements at all times. Qualifications/Training Essential: Minimum Technical apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme plus HNC in instrumentation/control systems engineering or equivalent with comprehensive experience in the role as the senior responsible instrumentation/control systems person on a permanently manned producing installation. OR proven record of time spent as assistant engineer, or similar, with HNC in instrumentation and control engineering or similar appropriate subject. Desirable: BSc. electrical and/or electronic engineering or similar appropriate subject, plus comprehensive experience within the Oil & Gas industry in a similar role. Experience Essential: Good knowledge of Maintenance Management systems, CMMS experience (SAP, Maximo). Good knowledge of maintenance strategy development, tools and techniques. Good knowledge of industry best maintenance practice. Desirable: Some experience of database software. Knowledge of discipline/specialist software applications. Competencies: In-depth knowledge of offshore instrumentation and control systems and associated regulations/legislation. Thorough knowledge of discipline. Thorough knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word. Excellent knowledge of Fire and Gas and ESD systems and their function. Good knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems. Ability to interpret logic diagrams and complex instrumentation drawings and documents. Knowledge of analysis tools related to discipline. Understanding of document control and planning procedures. Ability to understand technical documentation from vendors or OEMs. Ability to troubleshoot/problem solve issues on for example Maintenance scheduling or work history analysis. Ability to attend other UK/International locations on planned short duration visits. Occasional offshore visits may be required. Able to give support and guidance to offshore supervisors.
