Soul Resources are seeking an Electrical Design Manager to work on a permanent basis in Scotland.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Design Manager with significant experience in the design of electrical capital equipment associated with power generation including LV, MV and HV systems, alternators, transformers and switchgear. A knowledge of generator controls and PLC systems would also be useful. The position will be based in Scotland.

The role involves the development of existing engineering equipment and the generation of new design concepts, working closely with design consultancies, proprietary equipment manufacturers and suppliers. The role will also assist in tender preparations as well as on-site commissioning and de-commissioning.

Some travel will be required within the UK, Europe and developing countries worldwide.

Experience in the following areas is preferred:
• Generator sets and their control systems
• LV, MV and HV systems
• Alternators, transformers and switchgear
• Grid connection codes and fault level calculations
• Earthing schemes and philosophies
• SCADA and PLC control systems
• System monitoring equipment
• Fire detection and suppression
• Safe systems of work
• CDM regulations

A proactive approach to Health and Safety is a prerequisite for this position

Duties shall include:
• Equipment design and development
• Appropriate selection of site specific major electrical components
• Calculations such as cable sizing and fault levels
• Creating and developing electrical specifications for key components and systems
• Generation of electrical schematic drawings
• Product support documentation
• Assisting in tender preparations
• On-site Commissioning and De-commissioning

You will have a minimum of an HND in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification and be fully conversant with AutoCAD. The role requires a self motivated and independent individual capable of working with the minimum of supervision and with the drive to complete a variety of tasks in parallel within tight timescales and budgets.

Salary will be negotiable and will be related to experience.
