Our client based in Portlethen has an exciting career opportunity for a Planner/Scheduler to join a leading subsea manufacturing service company. The main purpose of the role is to monitor and manage capacity, with the designated manufacturing representatives, in order to allow timely release of work and execution of the manufacturing and assembly phases of the order fulfillment process. The position is a generic one allowing maximum flexibility within the department. The successful candidate would be responsible for performing one or all of the following activities performed within the department subject to load and activity levels: Capacity planning MRP planning Scheduling & finite planning Assembly planning & scheduling Ensure timely scheduling and execution of customer orders which compliment the capabilities of the plant whilst providing maximum utilisation and adherence to customer requirements. Daily tasks to include: Detailed planning and scheduling of specific parts to meet the requirements of the overall sales plan. Maintenance of accurate capacity profiles coupled with scheduling of work to maximise utilisation of the machine tools within their responsibility area. Support and liaise with manufacturing supervision to ensure that the load and capacity data is agreed and managed. As required expedite both manufactured and flag purchased part requirements to Inventory to facilitate the elimination of shortages in the assembly areas. Ensure that sufficient data is available regarding capacity to enable the timely decision making process as regards subcontract activities. Actively recommend when such a course of action is required to safeguard customer deliveries. Liaise closely with internal departments to ensure accurate instructions are available to the assembly areas in relation to the customer and product configuration requirements to enable timely shipment of products to plan. Load versus capacity reviews – informal and verbal on a daily basis, formal and written on a weekly and monthly basis.Knowledge and Experience Required: A thorough understanding of Production Control principles along with an appreciation of machine capabilities and process inter-dependencies. An experienced graduate in a technical subject or someone with extensive experience in an engineering environment. Experience with MRPII/CRP and SAP would be advantageous.
