Job Description Requirements for the role include the following:Degree in Mechnaical Engineering. Familiarity with design Codes applicable to the Process Plant Sector (PD5500,ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, API 579) Experience in the Process Plant Sector, particularly in FEED and EPC phases of Projects. Experience and knowledge in Pressure Vessel and Piping design, the application of FEA and Fitness for Service Assessments. On-site/plant operating experience and advantage. Some experience in plant noise assessment, noise control, vibration and/or acoustic fatigue assessment. The work will include: FEA studies and reports as required to support design activities. Complex Mechanical designs Acoustic fatigue Assessments Trouble shooting mechanical issues as they arise on Projects Review of complex Vendor and sub-contractor designs/calculations. Preparation of Project standards and specifications in the fields of specialist Mechanical Engineering. Preparation of Plant Noise Assessments/Reports using SoundPlan.
Requirements
NON-PROJECT RELATED WORK Carry out duties assigned by the Chief Engineer (Technology) and in particular: Solve special technical design and metallurgical problems requiring investigation beyond that required in normal design drafting and engineering. Evaluate new solutions and standards for use in solving technical problems encountered frequently in normal design. Keep keen interest in new technical developments and advise on possible applications or implications. Carry out technical investigations, produce technical reports, engineering standards, procedures and assigned sections of Technology Manual. Maintain contact with technical experts in Client's and other organisations. Ensure that information on past experience and published data is placed in central technical files. Report on special problems and solutions to International Technical Committee. Provide a consultancy service to other Groups and to affiliate offices when authorised. Obtain feedback information on corrosion in operating plants, for use in future material selection. Accumulate cost and availability data to aid selection. Assist Construction Department in writing new welding procedures. Participate in proposal activities as required.
