Job Description

Candidate minimum requirements

Significant industry experiences with a number of years lead engineer experience. This must include FEED and EPC projects across a diverse range of projects.

The Candidate must have led a team of engineers and designers in a front office execution location in a multi-discipline design environment.

Understanding and execution experience with remote engineering office is very desirable.

Relevant construction site experience would be a distinct advantage.


Key skill sets required


 Ability to manage a team to produce deliverables on schedule, of the correct quality and technical content.
 Client and internal stakeholder management
 Able through experience to prepare quick estimates for cost, equipment and man-hours as required for project change control.
 Demonstrate a full understanding of workflow between engineering disciplines, procurement, etc
 Understand required logic links between disciplines. Be able to review and input to Level 2 &3 planning.
 Setup and maintain DMS in line with discipline quality plan
 Prepare discipline execution plan for the project assigned to.
 Prepare weekly and monthly reports
 Prepare & maintain MPP
 Track hours used to feedback into corporate metrics
 Update and produce new corporate standards and technical work practices as required.


Technical Competencies


 Competent in preparation of all system study calculations including transient stability, motor starting, harmonic penetration, reliability, touch & step potentials. Understanding of underlying IEC standards and be capable of preparing hand calculations for volt drop and short circuit.
 Experienced in complex protection schemes, e.g. GTG, large motor, ring bus, distance protection, pilot wire schemes.
 Experience of power management or SCADA systems, including load shedding, reacceleration & intelligent switchgear.
 Prepare Material Requisitions from scratch. Raise bid clarifications, prepare Technical Bid Evaluation, chair kick-off meetings, approve supplier docs and attend FAT / Final Inspection.
 Ability to prepare protection coordination study
 Setup and populate Engineering Database. Prepare engineering reports and schedules.
 Develop Single Line Diagrams, schematic and interconnection sketches
 Have received formal training for Area Classification to IEC, API and IP15 codes
 Technically competent to approve Class 1 documents
 Technically competent to represent project team opposite client and project management
 Understand design group workflow and different approaches available; i.e. 2D with manual MTO to PDS and ‘fully’ automated MTO.
 Input to the development of database/CAD tools, e.g. SPEL, SP3D
