Job Description Good quality HAZOPs are a key part of the safe design of process plant. The purpose of this rule is to chair HAZOP reviews on major designs at FEED and EPC in FW Reading and periodically overseas if required on an as-required basis to support project execution. The typical duration of each HAZOP will be from 2 to 8 weeks N.B - The role is “ad hoc” short term and not a permanent career in FWEL Requirements - A successful career path in the energy sector, with proven relevant design safety experience in refineries, petrochemical plants and other large scale high hazard processes, and a background in QRA, reliability, and engineering safety review gained through project execution with a major multi-national contractor.
- Experience leading and participating in HAZOPs of several weeks duration
- Experience managing teams of people
- Experience working under time pressures
- Knowledge of SIL assessment would be a benefit
- Chemical Engineering degree or related discipline (minimum) and recognised training in HAZOP chairing.
- Flexibility is essential as occasional international travel will be required - usually of relatively short duration, but often with little notice.
- To ensure the smooth and timely conduct of HAZOP reviews
- To lead the HAZOP review team which includes many disciplines and representatives of client organisations.
Responsibilities - To ensure the HAZOP procedure is followed in it’s entirety
- To maintain focus and control of the team on completing the HAZOP and, where team members deviate from the agenda to politely but firmly refocus the group.
- To ensure that relevant actions are clearly recorded and agreed by team members.
- To write the HAZOP report and issue in a timely manner.
- To review responses to HAZOP actions to ensure they close the action satisfactorily
Individual - Keen, self motivated, proactive, excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness.
- The ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, plan work and provide clear technical direction.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (spreadsheet, database and word processing)
