Tank Inspection Scope Engineering Technician

Clien's FPSO includes a number of tanks within its hull space. These tanks are to be inspected in support of the vessel’s tank structural inspection strategy. This strategy is based on a rolling program of continuous assessment. An engineer is required to develop a detailed inspection scope for each of the FPSO’s 59 hull tanks to form the basis of the inspection workpack.
Based in Sunbury on Thames UK and reporting to the Asset Corrosion Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing the detailed inspection work pack for each tank ahead of its scheduled inspection date. This will include:
1.Reviewing the FPSO’s structural risk based inspection documentation and identifying the critical structural areas requiring detailed inspection activity for each tank.
2.Accessing the FPSO’s engineering database to:
a.Assemble the full structural drawing package relevant to each tank’s inspection.
b.Assemble the mechanical equipment drawing package for any mechanical equipment maintenance activity within the tank (valves, pumps etc)
c.Assemble the instrumentation drawing package any instrumentation equipment maintenance activity within the tank (level transmitters etc)
3.Drafting the inspection scope to capture the critical structural areas (as identified in the FPSO’s structural RBI study document and generic structures identified in the IACS Recommendation 96: “Double Hull Oil Tankers - Guidelines for Surveys, Assessment and Repair of Hull Structures (April 2007)” for information on critical areas) and the requirements of the Classification Society. Detailed example inspection scope document have been generated as templates for this work.
4.Review the draft inspection workpack with the Floating Systems Technical Authority and the Asset Corrosion Engineer.
5.Electronically mark up the inspection drawings.
6.Formally issuing the approved workpack to the tank inspection job officer.
7.Analysing inspection team feedback to optimise the inspection scope for future tanks.

Required Skills/Experience:
•Proficient in the use of MS Office and AutoCAD.
•Able to read, interpret and update technical drawings.
•Familiar with non destructive testing (NDT) techniques, their practical application and limitations. Ideally, this experience will be in the inspection of tanks, structures or marine vessels.
•Able to develop and document detailed structural inspection workscopes.
•A degree or vocational qualification in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, materials engineering or inspection technology.
