Lead Completions Engineer

Position Summary
Provide completions, well testing, well servicing and well integrity expertise for BG Advance.
Review well completions, testing and intervention planning in conjunction with asset teams as well as assist Assets to design completions, well tests and interventions in accordance with BG minimum standards and support Assets through the Value Assurance Framework (VAF) funnel by contributing to Functional Reviews and Readiness Reviews.
Assist in the upkeep of Well Engineering Management System guidelines and BG Well Engineering Minimum Standards.
Contribute positively to all aspects of the areas covered by the Completions section of Well Engineering. The position reports directly to the Chief Completions Engineer. There are strong working relationships with BG's overseas assets to which the Lead Completions Engineer offers support, as well as a requirement for daily collaboration with the Well Engineering team based in Reading.
Key Accountabilities

Ensure that all well completion, testing and intervention operations are planned and performed in compliance with the approved BG Project and Corporate Centre Policies. These include, but are not limited to, directives / policy on business ethics, security, health, safety and the environment.
• When requested provide engineering support to the Assets contracting activities. Prepare technical scopes of work for all completion and well testing related third party services and drilling service contracts in line with the tendering strategy.
• Liaise with and assist Assets regarding Well Integrity issues. Covering the set up of the integrity system to reviewing the operation and effectiveness of the system through the VAF system.
• Control, maintain and report on the progress during the completion, well testing and intervention operations. Support the operations during the drilling phase.
• Carry out the necessary engineering calculations and studies to ensure that the completion and well test designs achieve the well objectives in the most efficient manner whilst ensuring that the risks of unplanned release of fluids from the well are ALARP.
• Ensure that a strong lessons learnt culture is present.
• Strive to improve completions and well testing operations by introducing appropriately researched new technology, applications, procedures and methods.
• Work with the Asset teams to review completion, testing and intervention programs, consents and notifications in compliance with BG Corporate Centre Policies and Government legislative requirements.
• Review completion, well testing and intervention time estimates for AFE purposes.
• Review drilling programme interfaces and ensure compliance with completion and well testing objectives.
• Maintain close liaison with Asset specialists.
• Review test string and completion designs to ensure they meet BG Group minimum standards.
• Review dispensation requests and provide input to the replies from BG Advance.

Required Skills/Experience:
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
- Demonstrable experience of well design and construction either within BG or with another Operator.
- Must be able to undertake all Well Engineering design activities (casing design, fluid design, offset review analysis) without supervision.
- Experience in Field Development Planning activities.
- Solid understanding of cost-effectiveness and general commercial business issues, technical regimes and solutions and appreciation of formal assurance processes and well delivery requirements.
- Knowledge of risk management, portfolio management and HSE management, engineering requirements applied to work, carried out by rig operations unit and equipment and its operational regulations.
- Procedure and practices of technical-economic and current production planning.
- Types and practices of production and economic activities conducted by the unit.
- Domestic and foreign experience related to the similar jobs
Desired Skills/Experience:
related to the discipline.
- Strong analytical approach to solve technical complex problems.
- Good skills with PC in Windows environment.
- Ability to work with Landmark spreadsheet applications for stress analyses (Stress Check, WellCat).
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Demonstrable commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
- Must be a self starter, inquisitive and confident to pursue new designs and withstand challenges from peers, able to work independently with minimal peer assistance / supervision in a multi-cultural environment.
