Job Description
On large Projects FW organise the equipment disciplines under an overall lead Engineer. This position is filled by an experienced Mechanical Engineer who understands the work processes necessary to specify and purchase equipment and who can organise and coordinate the efforts of a team of discipline Engineers to ensure that this scope is delivered.
Requirements The suitable applicant will have the following skills. - Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chartered Engineer status preferred.
- Extensive experience including leading teams of Equipment Engineers.
- Have previous experience of specifying and purchasing equipment within a Contracting environment.
- Good technical grounding in one of the Equipment Disciplines (Rotating, Package or Static)
- Good communication and delegation skills.
- Organised.
- Familiar with Project control techniques and principals.
- Familiar with administering Project scope including control of budgets, manpower projection, change control and progress monitoring.
Responsibilities - Establish the scope of work and quantify this in terms of deliverables and manpower.
- Integrate the equipment group activities into the overall Project schedule.
- Establish the execution approach for the Project, organise the equipment Engineers and assign responsibilities within the group.
- Maximise the use of cost effective resources in FW affiliate office in India and coordinate the use of this resource on a Project.
- Oversee the production of Technical Specifications and Standards for the Project.
- Provide Technical and Quality guidance to the Equipment team.
- Provide a single point of contact for the equipment group activities within the Project.
- Maintain the progress of the equipment group, monitor work load and highlight resourcing issues.
- Set up the necessary work methods within the group to allow the interfaces with Procurement, Document Control, Design Disciplines etc.
- Oversee and be responsible for the delivery of the Equipment Group scope on the Project, control the execution of the scope and present any changes or deviations to the Project for further processing.
- Represent FW opposite the Client’s Equipment Engineer.
- Report Project Status regularly to the Equipment Group Manager.
