Job Description

The key responsibility of this role is to work within the Pipeline Group as a Lead/Senior Pipeline Engineer with responsibility for the Conceptual and FEED phase design of onshore and offshore oil and gas pipelines/flowlines.



Requirements
  • Requires previous experience of the mechanical and civil design of offshore and onshore pipeline projects and the project execution strategies associated with pipeline procurement and construction.
  • Minimum qualifications: Engineering degree and Chartered Engineer with a minimum of 12 years (Lead) and 8 years (Senior) post graduate experience with a reputable contractor or consultant.
  • Proven track record in a conceptual and FEED and detailed design experience.
  • Able to develop pipeline installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance analysis and procedures.
  • Familiar with the relevant International standards and Codes of Practice and competent in the design, specification and selection of pipeline systems to meet the requirements therein.
  • Experienced in the used of pipeline design software and generally IT literate.
  • Sound appreciation of material selection, process design and HSEQ aspects of oil and gas design and ability to develop material specification.
  • Experience in the development of material requisitions and construction scopes of work.
  • Experience in field layout and developments


Responsibilities
  • Pipeline route selection.
  • Mechanical design, i.e. wall thickness, preliminary stress analysis, expansion analysis, and free-span analysis.
  • Development of material take-offs.
  • Development of material specifications.
  • Development of construction and inspection (NDT) specifications.
  • Preparation of Pipeline EPC scopes of work.
  • Input to EPC schedules and Cost Estimates.

The role requires working with other disciplines so the candidate must be competent in handling interfaces between other disciplines.

These Pipeline Engineer roles (all levels) reside within the Pipeline Group in Foster Wheeler’s Oil and Gas Division (OGD). OGD is a specialist consultancy service provider which draws on some of the best minds within the oil & gas industry. The Pipeline Group is a specialist provider of pipeline and flow assurance design predominantly in conceptual studies and front end design (FEED) work in upstream oil and gas development and production. The Pipeline Group’s responsibilities also extend into providing detailed engineering, procurement and PMC services.
