Lead Drilling Engineer - HPHT

Do you have HPHT Drilling experience ? Do you want to work for a growing global company?
Work with new technologies and ideas as Lead Drilling Engineer at BG-Group leading the design work for international wells.

Develop robust HPHT well designs and drilling programmes that meet the requirements of the Well Engineering Team Project Management System and BG Well Engineering Policy. Full account should be taken of offset information and the well sanction budget.
Manage the progress of the well design following BG’s internal VAF (Value Assurance Framework)
Support the tender process for the provision of 3rd party services for well engineering as well as the procurement of well hardware.
Ensure that the well objectives proposed by the sub-surface team are technically feasible and fully evaluated for risk and associated cost.
Develop a Basis of Design document to support the well design and drilling programme .Maintain a record of all design assumptions, correspondence with the Subsurface group and Management of Change.
Liaise with the Regional Well Engineer based in TVP, and the External Well Examiner
Understand the BG dispensation process and when necessary develop dispensation requests taking full account of safety, change control and cost whilst remaining within BG’s WEMS (Well Engineering Minimum Standards)
Ensure an auditable trail is maintained for all decision making during the drilling operations.
Ensure that all drilling lessons learnt and non-conformance reports are investigated and closed out.
Supervise 3rd party contractors involved in the drilling operation by clear communication and co-ordination of requirements to ensure an efficient service is supplied.
Support the upkeep of the well cost tracking system.
Compile all well engineering documentation and records needed for consent, well examination, handover and audit as required.
Maintain the performance data for each well as applicable.
Maintain an End of Well report document and update throughout the well life cycle.
Ensure the Well Design and Operational requirements can be met by the rig specification.

Required Skills/Experience: Be expert in the use of Drilling Engineering software such as WellCat, WellPlan, Compass, Drilling Office
Be expert in the use of probabilistic modelling software such as P1 to allow preparation of well timings and costs to deliver statistically derived AFE’s that have taken well risks into account.

Experience and be considered expert in the use of industry recognised Well Engineering software such as Wellcat, Stresscheck, Drilling Office, WellPlan, Compass.
Specific experience appropriate to the project e.g. exploration and well testing from a jack-up.
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Demonstrable commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental performance, his/her behaviour is influential to others in the organisation.
Must be a self starter, inquisitive and confident to pursue new designs and withstand challenges from peers.

Desired Skills/Experience: Experience as a Drilling Supervisor would be considered an advantage although not essential
Specific experience appropriate to the project e.g. exploration and well testing from a jack-up.
Must be able to work independently with minimal peer assistance / supervision.
Must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Demonstrable commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental performance, his/her behaviour is influential to others in the organisation.
Conversant with the industry-standard Drilling Engineering software packages, i.e. Compass, Stresscheck, Wellplan, etc.
Must be a self starter, inquisitive and confident to pursue new designs and withstand challenges from peers.
Must be able to work independently with minimal peer assistance / supervision.
Must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Required Qualifications: Extensive Drilling Engineering experience with an Operator. Recent experience ( in the last three years preferred) in the planning and drilling of one offshore HPHT well as a minimum.
