Senior Development Geologist
Leading global independent exploration and production company is looking for outstanding subsurface professionals to join their Aberdeen based team to deliver their field redevelopment plans. Recently approved investment in excess of £400mm for 2010+ drilling activity has identified the need to recruit for a Senior Development Geologist as well as Geophysicists and Reservoir Engineers. The operated assets are due to embark on an expected four year continuous drilling programme with other prospects and discoveries being readied for drilling and development as applicable.
The Senior Development Geologist will be responsible for all geological aspects of field development including management and supervision of sub-contractors and the construction and maintenance of fully integrated 3D geological models for use in reservoir simulation.
Duties:
- Development of geological frameworks, static reservoir modelling and upscaling to simulation models
- Maintain detailed geological descriptions of the assets and ensure new data is incorporated as necessary
- Recommend further subsurface studies including cost-effective acquisition of new data. Supervise these projects and provide geological support as required
- Work with the subsurface team to identify infill drilling opportunities and optimise field development plans
- Provide geological reports and make presentations to management, partners and peer review teams
- Provide geological insight and support for major decisions in the organisation
- Close liaison with the drilling and completions departments for their respective fields for input to well design and operational decisions
- Represent the company on technical and operating committees, workshops and industry conferences
- Supervise and act as mentor to junior staff
Requirements:
- A good Geology degree, preferably to MSc level
- Ten to fifteen years of North Sea experience is preferred, including several years at Senior Geologist level. A proven track record of successful projects is highly desirable
- A strong background in field development geology coupled with up-to-date geomodelling skills
- High level of familiarity with the UKCS Sea is preferred
- Familiarity with the relevant geological applications (Petrel preferred)
- Broad experience in well planning, appraisal and development studies is essential
- A good working knowledge of geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir and petroleum engineering would be beneficial
- Wellsite geology and drilling operations experience is desirable
