Requirements
- A successful career path in a contracting consultancy role in the energy sector, with proven design experience in the refining, chemicals, sectors, and demonstrable expertise in chemicals and/or petrochemicals technology gained through project execution with a major multi-national contractor.
- Experience of the design of polymer units such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate or PVC would be an advantage.
- Chemical Engineering degree (minimum)
- Chartered Engineer
- Flexibility is essential as occasional international travel will be required - usually of relatively short duration, but often with little notice
Responsibilities
- Working within the technology group you will be responsible for ensuring the technical excellence of Foster Wheeler’s work across a range of projects and will also play an active role in developing our systems and procedures to ensure best practice is disseminated across the company’s operations
- Ensure FW and Client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all your work.
- Provide timely technical support on a consultancy basis across multiple projects to the teams executing Foster Wheeler’s project and study work in the utilities and offsites sector.
- Review, and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations, process engineering datasheets and drawings in the petrochemicals area as requested to ensure our design activities adhere to our standards and procedures.
- Provide technical expertise and support to business winning activity by defining technical scope, manhours estimates, execution plans, and schedules etc as required.
- Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in your fields of expertise and provide and develop appropriate technical solutions for specific project issues.
- Disseminate your technical expertise and assist in the mentoring and development of junior staff as requested.
The Individual
- Extensive experience of the design of petrochemicals and/or chemicals units.
- Self motivated, and proactive with excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational awareness.
- The ability to plan work and provide clear technical direction.
- Demonstration of customer focus and ability to respond to customer needs whilst achieving project and corporate objectives.
- Analytical and innovation skills to manage new or novel technology
- The ability to balance commercial and technical risk.
