Job Description

Duties

  • Assemble and supervise a piping engineering / design group capable of executing a project
  • Create project piping engineering organisation chart, including a specification for the various roles and responsibilities defined
  • Co-ordinate all Piping Engineering activities and ensure they are produced to the correct level of quality and in accordance with the project plans
  • Estimate project man-hour budgets, review budgets with project management and maintain schedule throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Undertake all matters related to planning, progressing, reporting, manpower loading and general administration
  • Compile / develop plans for the production and issuing of the piping deliverables
  • Supervise creation of project piping material specification, piping design standards, technical design instructions and discipline work practices / procedures
  • Ensure interaction with other FWEL discipline for all interfaces.
  • Effectively co-ordinate piping engineering activities with the project and client
  • Attend and contribute to design / construction reviews.
  • Oversee Piping bulk material aspects, bulk take-offs, quantification, allocation and manipulation of a material management system
  • Review and check vendor document / information for compliance with project specifications
  • Create piping engineering end of project report

Skills

  • A sound knowledge of piping design and engineer functions, including an understanding of pipe flexibility and pipe supporting issues
  • Display an ability re: the development of conceptual equipment layout plans and other supportive related activities required to prove the layouts.
  • An understanding of pipe stress analysis activities, covering thermal expansion criteria and basic cope compliance, including a good working knowledge of pipe support selection and positioning
