Job Description Please note this role has a start date of Autumn 2010. The closing date for applications is 31 December 2009. We are looking for graduate engineers for our Graduate Programme to join our upstream offshore and onshore oil and gas consultancy group. The petroleum industry is usually divided into three major components: Upstream, midstream and downstream. Foster Wheeler provides services to clients for all three areas, but within Foster Wheeler the services are provided by separate specialist groups. The upstream oil sector is a term commonly used to refer to the searching for and the recovery and production of crude oil and natural gas. Foster Wheeler works with clients to exploit their oil and gas discoveries (however, we do not provide sub-surface services). These graduate positions are for this upstream group. Foster Wheeler’s specialist Oil and Gas Division executes projects within the oil & gas industry. They specialise in upstream oil and gas conceptual studies (projects which are still at the formative stage), including offshore facilities (such as oil/gas platforms and subsea pipelines and facilities) and onshore processing facilities (such as gas plants and pipeline networks). They also provide consultancy services and engineering input to the rest of the Foster Wheeler organisation in other project phases (Front End Engineering Design, Detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction Phases). The group encompasses study managers and all engineering disciplines involved in oil and gas onshore and offshore projects, including process engineers, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, civil engineers, pipeline engineers, project engineers and any engineers with a bias and interest in upstream oil and gas projects. The group typically works in small, high profile teams to produce novel technical solutions to client’s problems. They usually provide clients with execution and economic plans to enable clients to make strategic business and capital expenditure decisions. Regular and direct contact with clients is essential in order to work with them to optimise the technical, practical and economic results they need in order to progress their project. The work in the oil and gas group is very varied, technically challenging and plays an important role in winning business for the rest of the company. As part of Foster Wheeler’s Graduate Programme, graduates will gain exposure to various projects and disciplines to develop their careers within the consultancy and contract engineering environment. This helps graduates to become chartered with their relevant professional institution. After chartership, graduates can either stay within the consultancy group and further their career in this niche area or choose from the wide range of career paths available within Foster Wheeler.
Requirements You will need a minimum 2:1 Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field and an MSc in Pipelines, Oil and Gas or Subsea Engineering.
Responsibilities As a Graduate Engineer in Oil and Gas you will be involved in undertaking process, flow assurance, structural or pipeline design activities on Foster Wheeler's current projects in the oil & gas industry.
