My Client is a leading Subsea Contracting Company. They have offices worldwide and are working on various International projects. They now have a requirement for a Principal FEA Specialist. This is a contract position to be based in Surrey.Roles & Responsibilities: • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. • Understand clients' needs; identify and address design parameters and problems; develop and implement innovative solutions. • Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work for self and others. • Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to DO, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions. • Sign and issue technical documentation as originator checker or approver, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy. • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed. • Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development. • Ensure project fitness-for-purpose, legislative compliance and adherence to project budget & schedule. • Train / mentor more junior engineers. • Recognise and accept HSE Roles & Responsibilities as defined in DOC-GL-HSE-001 Specific Roles & Responsibilities: • Provide leadership in planning, detailing and reviewing of technical documentation relating to subsea pipelines' construction and installation. • Lead and perform FE analysis, design and engineering activities associated with subsea construction and installation. • Review design calculations for pipelines, spool pieces, tie-ins, risers and umbilicals. • Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. DNV, BS, API,); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work. • Review of design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, construction drawings, design specifications, material take-offs, weight control calculations, etc. • Manage interfaces with associated subsea related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project environment. • Lead engineering assistance and support during mobilisations and occasional periods of offshore or site working in support of pipelay and trenching operations. • Manage technical engineering support to other departments within the Central Engineering Group, the Project Engineering Group, and to colleagues in terms of training and mentoring. • Select proprietary software and develop inhouse pipeline analysis and design tools. • Lead the technical aspects of events such as Bid Clarifications, Kickoff meetings, HIRAs, Design Reviews, etc. • Co-author technical papers related to pipeline engineering and design.
