Regional Legal Counsel - Dubai

Outstanding international opportunity has arisen with this oil service company operating worldwide. This role is based out of Dubai and you must be a qualified solicitor with previous in-house oil and gas experience and a good working knowledge of English commercial law. You will also ideally have previous experience working in the region and will be responsible for providing a full range of corporate legal advice for the region.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Provide legal advice on commercial transactions, risk management, corporate governance, real estate conveyances, representation and other intermediary arrangements, joint venture and cooperation arrangements, employee relations, intellectual property, confidential disclosures, licenses, and acquisitions and divestitures in the Company's Eastern Hemisphere operations in coordination with Regional management, Corporate Legal and other specialist functions
Draft and negotiate transactional agreements and other documents as needed.
Promote awareness of legal risks within the region's business management and contracting and other specialists through internal training and counselling.
Provide functional (legal) training and oversight of regional contracting staff.
Liaise with Corporate and other Regional counsel, other specialists and colleagues on regional and global policies, procedures and initiatives as otherwise as required.
Participate in development and implementation of Corporate compliance programs.
Manage legal proceedings arising from the Company's Eastern Hemisphere operations.
Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company's code of ethics and other relevant policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience

Bar admission and membership in good standing required, preferably in a common-law jurisdiction.
Minimum seven years' attorney/solicitor experience (law firm or in-house legal department), including at least five years of such experience in international commercial transactions, preferably in the oil/gas or marine industry and including business acquisitions.
Working knowledge of English commercial law.
Experience in successfully managing outside counsel.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written) with all levels of Company employees.
Ability to negotiate contracts with customers, vendors, and other commercial parties.
Excellent analytical and drafting skills and sound appreciation of contractual issues and risks.
Proven ability to proactively identify issues and develop practical solutions.
Ability to conduct, coordinate and organize multiple transactions and deadlines in a fast paced environment with close attention to detail.
Commercial awareness, common sense and decision making abilities.
Demonstrated integrity, initiative and professionalism.
Ability to travel worldwide and work additional hours as necessary.
