One of the largest oil producers in the world, with the largest non-associated gas fields, Qatar Petroleum (QP) can offer diverse experience in complex geological production and exploration environments. Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, you will contribute directly to the development of Qatar Petroleum’s operated oil and associated gas fields.

QP is now looking for qualified Senior Geophysicists to analyze, interpret and integrate geophysical data to establish and update geologic frameworks and models for QP oilfields. Undertake geophysical studies of the reservoirs to evaluate proposed well locations and optimize field development plans. Conduct rock property modeling. Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams. Develop and mentor less experienced staff.

Required experience and expertise
• Prefer 15+ years work experience as Geophysicist. Must have undertaken field and reservoir studies and be able to integrate geologic, well, and geophysical data
• Offshore and onshore experience, strong in interpretation, shoot design and processing planning.
• Must have worked on mature producing fields where the integration of production data has been used to constrain their maps and interpretations.
• Must have experience in geophysical risk analysis for proposed well locations
• Must have carbonate reservoir experience
• Must be highly knowledgeable in all aspects of surface seismic acquisition and processing, both 3D and VSP.
• Must have strong teamwork skills, and it would be an advantage to have experience working in a multicultural environment
• Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and management
• Must have experience mentoring less experienced geoscientists
• Must have experience/knowledge of current computer software for geophysical applications
• Minimum of a BSc in Geology or Geophysics is required

Desirable experience and expertise
• Desirable to have experience at project specification, bidding, and execution in surface seismic and VSP acquisition, processing and interpretation
• Working knowledge of seismic attribute analysis to model rock properties, sedimentary facies and depositional architecture
• Desirable to have experience in applying structural geology concepts and methods to assess compartmentalization/communication due to faulting.
• Desirable to have In depth knowledge of fault and fracture detection, and to have worked with geologic modelers to incorporate interpretations into 3D geologic models
• General understanding of the major elements of reservoir engineering, like the interpretation of well tests and tracer data
